History
Founded by a group of music teachers (Patricia Elliott, Rachel Cavalho and Ralph Elsaesser) as the 'Contemporary Music Showcase Association' in 1967, and incorporated in 1978 as 'Alliance for Canadian New Music Projects,' we enjoy our reputation as a champion of Canadian music.Contemporary Showcase began as a bi-annual festival with its first Festival in 1970 featuring contemporary music from Canada and internationally. In 1990, the Festival became an annual event in celebration of Canadian music.
ACNMP celectrated its 25th Projects anniversary in 1995 as the major promoter of Canadian music for young musicians, receiving the "Friends of Canadian Music Award" a joint presentation from the Canadian Music Centre and Canadian League of Composers recognizing exceptional contribution and commitment to Canadian Composers' music.
